Music piracy ('muziekpiraterij' in dutch) is a very complex phenomenon to comprehend. These pages wishes to address all of you who are interested in music piracy in a broad sense. In 2001 I wrote a scientific dissertation about music piracy for my Master's degree in Communication Sciences at the K.U.Leuven. This dissertation incluced a survey among 1500 individuals.

Gratis muziek downloaden via de dienst Digileen

De stedelijke bibliotheek van Gent is gestart met Digileen. De nieuwe dienst maakt het mogelijk om gratis muziek te downloaden uit de catalogus van de bibliotheek. Digileen is een Nederlands systeem. Pirate website shut down, 2,000 DVDs seized

FIOD-ECD ontmantelt illegale DVD-perserij

Tijdens de doorzoeking werden naast de illegale DVD-pers een 5-kleuren drukpers (om de DVD's van een opdruk te voorzien) en diverse DVD's aangetroffen. Het apparaat werd persklaar aangetroffen met de film 'Die Hard 4.0'. Ook werden andere recente titels gevonden, waaronder 'Ocean's Thirteen', 'Evan Almighty' en 'Fantastic Four, the rise of the silver surfer' en DVD's met videoclips. De DVD-pers, drukpers en overig materiaal zijn door de autoriteiten in beslag genomen. De pers kan 285 DVD's per uur produceren. Naast twee lege zakken polycarbonaat, grondstoffen goed voor 100.000 DVD's, stond een nieuwe zak op de pers aangesloten. Forensisch onderzoek door de internationale muziekbranche organisatie IFPI heeft uitgewezen uit dat de pers vermoedelijk afkomstig is uit de boedel van een failliete perserij.
